During the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council, in 11 and 12 February in Latvia the international conference “Entrepreneurship in Regions to Strengthen the European Union Competitiveness” will be organised by the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) in collaboration with the municipalities of two regional cities – Jelgava and Cēsis.
Alongside the European high level officials’ and business representatives’ discussion on how to promote regional business development, LDDK will use this opportunity to introduce to all Europe two towns of Latvia where targeted development of regional businesses and local economy take place based on cooperation between employers and municipalities.
Vitālijs Gavrilovs, LDDK President, Vice-President of BUSINESSEUROPE: “The most of the Presidency events during this half of the year take place in the capital cities – Riga and Brussels. But, when speaking about regional business activity and its development both at EU level and in each individual member state, we deliberately chose to bring delegates of the Conference to Cēsis and Jelgava – two towns that can be regarded as successful examples of regional economical growth in Latvia. The key to success of both cities are targeted, regular cooperation between local employers’ organisations and local government officials jointly planning future development, identifying and preventing obstacles, as well as, looking in the long term development.”
