The LDDK is the only organisation of employers that represents the interests of employers in discussions with national and local government representatives, as well as trade unions. The LDDK monitors the drafting process of policy planning documents and regulatory acts, regularly asking its members to review draft regulatory acts that affect them before they are adopted.
The LDDK has the right to prose amendments to laws and Cabinet of Ministers regulations to dismantle administrative barriers and obstacles against the development of the economy and entrepreneurship of the country. The confederation organises meetings with corporate and sector-based experts, as well as with representatives of the relevant state institutions, so as to ensure that regulatory acts and policy planning documents are in line with the interests of employers.
The LDDK also represents the interests of employers and companies in the various sectors by drafting laws and other regulatory acts.

Representation in the EU
The strategic foreign policy goal for the LDDK is to ensure an increase in the competitiveness of Latvian companies and the convergence of Latvia’s level of welfare with that of the old EU member states, also developing Latvia’s economic relations with the Baltic States, the EU, and other countries in the world.
